Renogy Controller w/BT

Help!!

So yesterday I upgraded my solar controller from a cheap basic Go Power PWM 30A to the Renogy Rover 40A with BT. Easy install. Was working great all day.
This morning the BT has no power going to it! I unplugged, replugged and nothing. Any ideas??

    Controller works fine!

Problem is the BT-1 bluetooth module
is not working. It has no power. It was working fine then all of a sudden no power.
I have reset the controller, didnt fix it. I dont know what else to try.

    Thanks!

I cant remember off hand, is there a light on the modual to indacate power? I installed mine in a closet and cant remember off hand. I know if the batteries are disconected from the controler it wont power the bluetooth, other than that I would guess it is defective as was mentioned.

  • This is all I see in the manual:

    3. How to Connect via Bluetooth
Please ensure your device’s Bluetooth setting is turned on.
    Select:
Configuration > Search Devices > Device
The green indicator on the BT-1 will turn on once it has successfully connected to the power.
The blue indicator on the BT-1 will blink once it has successfully connected and during communication.

It is the BT-1 that is not turning on right? Only 3 possibilities. Problem with power to the controller connector, problem with the cable, BT-1 is defective. I would be calling Renogy.

Hey Friend. Did you disconnect the BT module from the main controller to reset it? That's what I did to reset mine.

  • I don’t remember my model number or how long I’ve used it, but I’ll check...and on resetting too.
  • Renogy's controller connectors would easily disconnect.

The clip to cable being tightened by a small screw are both weak.

Check this out every time you move it (mine is portable). This often happens to me and it's frustrating.
  • Hey there.

I don't recall the model number of my Renogy BT controller. It's external though. Is that the same as yours?

I've been running mine for close to two years now, if I recall.

I had one occurrence about a year ago where I lost connectivity. It was a pain to remove the screws and the cover to unplug it, but disconnecting & reconnecting reset the controller and reestablished the BT connection.

I don't know any other way to reset that controller. I wonder if yours could be faulty?
