Repairing wood trim

I made the mistake and put some tape on the fake wood trim in our Trailer and pulled off the mirror thin layer of wood grain. It is only a small spot but look bad. Does anyone know how to make it look better?
Hope I have made this clear of my trouble.

If you can get that piece off. Here's what I have done. Take it down to a cabinet maker and let them look at it. Odds are they can reproduce an identical piece for you. I have had identical pieces of trim made for the S & B before.

Jim, I think that the suggestions for the stain markers are excellent ones and is what I too would suggest. Here is a link to the Minwax product which I am sure that I have seen even at Walmart if not the Home Depot etc.

No need to remove the trim if it is a small area, IMO. I would try the stain marker first and if that does not work out and it still bugs you then maybe something more invasive.
  • Is there any chance you can switch the damaged trim with another piece of trim and put the damaged trim in a less noticeable place?

There are stain pencils available that will help to color the peeled area back towards original. You need to get in touch with your artistic side to make it unnoticeable. You can also buy vinyl wood grain in sheets or on tape roll but matching is difficult.

This is what I was looking for and will check with hardware store.
    THANKS

  • Paint?
You really have no options unless your really a good wood worker. If you are, i would buy a piece of oak, stain to match and replace it. BTW there is a place in Portland, Woodcrafters i think near Benson high school that has all sorts of hardwoods i a myrid of sizes, so fiding what you need shiuld not be too hard.
