Replace old brakes

So I live in PA and my wife wants to take a long trip south in early March. So knowing that our travel trailer was due for new brakes I decided to do the smart thing and replace them this last fall while it was warm before I winterized it. That way I would not be freezing my fingers doing it in February. 🙂 Also took the time to add new wheels and tires.

Old rusty brakes.

New Brakes.

I can't see a darn thing wrong with the old brakes.

Are those self adjusting? That should save some hassle. Actually I was expecting to see disk brakes go on. Anyway those should be good to go another decade.

So easy to do when you just buy complete assembly on backplate.

Good job!

Did you burnish new shoes....?
(30/30/30-----30 stops from 30 mph with 30 second cool downs between----gentle braking not hard wheel stopping ----wheels should not lock up/stop while doing this procedure)

Thanks
Yes I did something along those lines. I kind of lost count. Yes the complete assemblies are the way to go. It took me a day per side as it was. But I took the time to repaint all of my frame while the brakes and wheels where off. Plus being interrupted by a ten year old. 🙂
