Hey guys, I have a question. I have a Viair 90P air compressor that requires clipping on to the battery. It's for my truck and the hose won't reach my RV tires unless I unhitch. I'm wondering...could I clip on to the deep cycle battery in my 5th wheel and run it? It would be nice if I could do that instead of getting a separate air compressor for the RV tires.I assume the battery has the juice since I'd only need to run it for a few seconds to top off the air, but I'm wondering if it would cause any sort of damage to the RV systems. Just hook the compressor up to the battery and compress away. No need to unhook anything from the battery's. Only caution would be it won't take long to run down a battery with this compressor so if you needed anything more then a quick top off you could run the battery down fast. If your truck is wired to charge your trailer battery's when hooked up then plug in your trailer lights and start your truck so the trailer battery won't be sucked dry.

Yes, you can connect it to your RV battery. That compressor uses a max 23 amps so running it for 10 mins would use up about 4ah of your battery capacity.

Yep, no worries. I have a similar, but lower quality compressor, that uses about 18 amps max.This did increase to about 20 amps when I replaced the 14 awg wiring with 10awg. The compressor runs faster, fills the tires faster.

Suppose you could buy a longer air hose at Harbor Freight.

You mean you have 12v outlets by them? That's pretty cool. Mine requires clipping on to the battery, though. My truck tires are 80PSI so I didn't want to use one powered by a 12v outlet. Too much risk of blowing a fuse.

Thanks for all the tips. Sorry for the delayed response, we were driving 2700 miles from the Thanksgiving get together to the Christmas get together.

I'll look into some of the tips you guys suggested. Extending the air hose on my compressor would be great (and easy). In the short term, though, I was able to easily air up my tires with my truck's compressor before hitting the road.

I had the same problem you have and solved it by splicing in a longer cord so that the compressor will reach anywhere I need it to. Not sure what all the fuss is about. Just make sure you have a large enough gauge wire to splice with.

You don't need no deep cycle batteries to run a lil ole compreessor.
My 120 v Camp Hausfield compressor runs fine on a 150 watt MSW inverter connected to a little 5 AH lawn mower battery. It did 3 full cycles before the inverter screamed for mercy.

YES. you can.. Epically if you really have DEEP CYCLE batteires.

But even if they are MARINE/deep cycle batteries you can do it.

I bought one from Viair before realizing that the 90P isn't designed for an air hose extension since it doesn't have a twist on chuck. It looked like I could take the little bolt off that connects the air hose to the compressor but it seems to be sealed with something. All it was doing was stripping out the bolt when I took a wrench to it.

If someone knows a way then please share..
