Samplex 450 msw inverter noise

New 5th wheel with dealer installed samplex inverter for the 32" digital tv-- high pitched (and annoying) sound from the inverter when inverter is turned on. I thought it was a defective unit, so the dealer sent a new unit overnight- same noise...doesn't help to turn up the tv volume-the inverter noise just pierces through it.
Any ideas?

Thanks, Larry
  • I assure you that the wiring has nothing to do with it. The inverter just has a flawed noisy design. Like I said, I have same inverter that produces the same high pitched whine. Just spend a bit of money on a more expensive inverter. I know that sucks but your dealer could replace it a hundred times and nothing would change. Just get a better one honestly.
  • Roy b-the noise is a high pitched whine coming only from the inverter-and yes I realize (after the fact)-that this is a cheap unit- but it's not supposed to make this noise- the dealer will be looking at it next week to check on the wiring...

KOPY KAT - Would you clear up what kind of noise you are getting. Got everyone on here describing all sorts of noises they have associated with the inverters.

Is this a mechanical noise like a fan makes on your Inverter unit...

Is this a tone noise coming from your inverter like an alarm module would make...

Is this a radiated type noise you may be hearing coming from the speakers of your Entertainment Center sound system when they are being operated from the inverter power source. I was thinking radiated noise coming from your sound system speakers when I first read the comments.

  • I have that same inverter, and yes it is noisy, so much so that i hardly ever use it. It doesn't help that the cooling fan is load controlled instead of temperature controlled. The result is that any load over about 7 watts causes it to come on. Its just a cheap inverter. However, Samlex makes great pure sinewave inverters, I have a samlex pure sinewave 300 watt, and it is worlds better. No sound at all, fan hardly ever comes on. Get one of those. It even comes with a cigar outlet adapter and battery clamps leads
  • Could be the inverter low voltage alarm if your batteries are down and/or your inverter wiring is insufficient (too small and/or too long). Most alarm off at 11 volts and shut down at 10.5 volts.

  • Yes. Get rid of that junk and buy pure sine wave inverter.
