Thanks for your help and taking time to offer suggestions. I will no long use the slide when the jacks are down.dougrainer wrote:You are correct in the spinning of the motor. I followed schwintec's instructions on replacing everything and it went fine. I put a little longer screw in from the outside but the motor still ends up uncoupling from the shaft. I can build a house from the ground up and am competent at these sort of repairs. I will keep tinkering with it as you are the only person that has responded. In my neck of the woods, I have had bad luck with getting things repaired. One fellow who came out to look at it just shrugged his shoulders and said "good luck. I don't have a clue."
1. The small screw that is installed from the outside to hold the motor DOWN will keep it down. The motor cannot move UP if the motor is installed correctly and the correct length screw is used. That screw has NOTHING to do with keeping the motor from spinning. There are 4 threaded bolts coming out of the motor that are installed into the 4 holes of the nylon block that keep the motor from spinning. That one screw keeps the motor from lifting up. You don't state what Year/Brand RV you have but your sig states a 2004. I don't believe Schwintek was in business in 2004.
2. IF you have a 6 point Leveling system with the 2 center jacks, that may be your problem if you extend and retract a Schwintek slide with the jacks extended and the RV leveled. I have had a few 5th wheels that when a 6 point system is extended, the center jacks put an undue stress upward on a Schwintek system and the sidewall hole cutout causing the Schwintek rack to bind and fail. The solution is to always extend then rooms, then level and then retract the jacks and then retract the rooms.
3. Your problem may be, you are doing the work yourself? :@ Doug
