Shower Surround Sealant

I need to seal a couple of joints in my RV shower surround. Is the proper sealant 100% silicone caulk, or something else?

Either Silicone caulk or regular caulk like DAP would work fine IMO. You can get most bathroom caulk in white or clear. I wouldn't stress out over it. Just what you would use in your bathroom. Clear RTV mentioned above would also be fine.

I would use Dicor. But thats just me. I simply have no faith in silicone or any of the silicone type products found at the big box stores.

Copy and paste. This is DAP Adhesive Caulk for kitchen Bath applications. I use the type that comes out white but dries clear. It is an ADHESIVE caulk/silicone and will adhere to fiberglas/metal/plastic. Silicone will not adhere to these materials. When it dries it is very clear. MORE so than clear silicone. Doug

  • I'm replacing the shower faucet. It's mounted on what amounts to a plastic box. The plastic box is surface mounted to the shower surround with screws. The joint around the box is sealed with some clear sealant. To remove the box and gain access to the mounting nuts on the faucet I have to remove the box. Then I have to re-seal the joint around the box. That joint is currently sealed with some clear sealant. The question is, what should I replace that sealant with?
  • Which joints? Are you sure they should be, or need to be, sealed?
