Side Seam Sealing prep?

What preparation is recommended prior to applying seam sealant on vertical surfaces?

Maybe(?):
1. Cut old caulking away with box knife.
2. Scrape remainder with plastic scraper.
3. Clean with acetone.

Sounds like a-lot of work, but I don't trust dealerships to do it "right". Advice from those who have done it? Thanks.

Plan to use:
Proflex RV sealant

White or Clear?

Thanks Guys.

I'll use the 3M Adhesive remover and White to hide the seams.

That's the way I do it- I use 3M adhesive remover- available where they sell auto paint. Removes silicone residue as well.
If the rig is white, I would use white.

You got it. Just clean, dry surfaces when you apply new sealant.
