Slide on Mirror Extensions ?

I traded my F150 truck 2008 for a new model 2014. I had bought a pair trailer mirrors that slipped right over my existing ones and provided me the outside mirror so I could see around my 5er.

The part number was the same for my new truck as Ford did not change the mirrors so I assumed I was good to go BUT my new truck has chrome caps on the outside of the top portion of the mirrors instead of the old ones which were just all plastic so the slide ons do not fit and wont slide on enough without binding.

Does anyone with the same style mirrors have a solution that fit ?
