slide out hard to stop

Thank you Joe417. I found 2 flat looking solinoids (I assume) towards the back underside area of pump. I was able to see the "in" wording one one of them. The switch at the pump works like the interior switch, but I didn't run the slide all the way in or out with that switch. I will do that test in a few days. The proceed as you mention. Thanks again

You have a hydraulic system.

It's hard to guess since you didn't give much info but all hydraulic pumps that I've seen (only owned one and work on a couple) have two automotive type solinoids that control in and out. They are usually mounted on the pump valve assembly.

It's not a problem with the toggle switch at the pump. I'm guessing again but that most likely supplies power just like the inside switch, or is a power disconnect for the pump. Didn't have one at the pump on the one I had.

Check to see if the switch at the pump runs the in and out correctly. If it does then you know the interior switch is bad, if not then it's the solinoid at the pump.

If it doesn't run the pump at all, you'll have to trouble shoot the issue by checking each individual switch and solinoid.

By the way, solinoid is just another name for relay (usually higher current).

It is a Dewald pump, there is a toggle switch by the pump that says in/out. Is that the relay that might be bad. I have two fuses for the slideout and one has a reset. No wiring diagram available.

I will look in the morning to see if I have a wiring diagram. Also will look for a relay domewhere. Thanks all.

Whether you have relays or not depends on the slide, many don't and just run all the current through the switch.
The way yours is sticking though makes me think a relay is sticking. I cant see how the switch can stick when your physically moving it. And if the switch is responsible then I would think it would have a different feel than it used to.

Switch probably energizes a Relay and Relay could be sticking. Do you have a Wiring Diagram?

If no Relay, you may need to install one. Or more, depends on how the slide works. Or, replace Switch with one that has a higher amperage rating.

Sounds like it may be time for another switch.
