Slide Out Structural Issue My Fault or Warranty ??
my slide out contains the dinette and sofa. the slide out was retracted and I was working under the sofa trying to bolster the support for the ends of the foam cushions that were getting stuck under the springs. I had inserted some pieces of corrugated plastic sheeting between the springs and the foam. I had finished and sat on the sofa to test it out first on the side farthest from the dinette. and It seemed to help so next I moved to the side of the sofa next to the dinette and yes it seemed to be better. while sitting there basking in the glow of my own genius LOL! Suddenly I heard a loud pop behind me and felt the sofa sink a little I immediately jumped up and looked around to see that the dinette booth seemed to have separated from the slide out wall and my behind the sofa storage cabinet had also pulled apart! I got down and looked under the slide out and noticed that there was about 1 1/2 inches of clearance between the bottom of the slide out floor and the trailer floor. obviously the manufacturer used the dinette booth back as a gusset to support the middle of the slide out floor from the slide out wall and my weight on the sofa was too much for the screws/nails/staples. my owners manual is silent on the issue of using the slide out while retracted there are no warning labels on the slide out etc. This will probably be a costly repair as I want it to be at least as strong as it was if not stronger. My question to ye old wise RVers is would this be a warranty repair or do I bite the bullet for this one?
