Still battling water pump issue

Dealer fixed the issue with water coming in from the onboard tank. According to their report, filter was blocked. BS, the winterizing suction tube worked fine and the shut off valve is now in the system with hose clamps... so that was at least removed by the dealer.

Now, I've got water hammer so bad that something is likely to break. Found no o-ring to seal the filter to the pump, added an o-ring. Did not change the behavior.

This may be an important observation, while the water hammer is undergoing, the LED lights are flickering.

It's 150 miles one way to the dealer, and I'm more than a little frustrated.

Long hose on the output side did not work for me.

This is worth the price.

Waste of time - none is needed on the pump intake, only it's output, and short hoses like this will accomplish little other than lightening your wallet. You want a l-o-n-g length of soft potable water hose on the pump output, minimum 15' but the longer the better.

I guess it didn't work on mine then. :h

you sold me on it... I just need to figure out how to build a bracket to move the pump to vertical orientation and where to put 25' of hose

This is worth the price. The hoses allow you to install a nice loop on the input and output. Isolate the pump from the mounting area. Allowing the pump to shake and shimmy as well as the input and output hoses helps keep the shaking out of the rv.

Did I understand correctly, you used 25' of water hose?

Correct - 25'. This is what dampens out the pump vibrations before they can emanate down the hose to the rest of the plumbing.

Is this better than an accumulator tank?

I'm also trying to cypher a way to install a vertical mounting system, this pump takes up a LOT of space that could better be used for other purposes. My other option is to make a structural ceiling and hang it from there... but then I'm living with a suspended load and the risks that come from that.

What's frustration, is the system was actually quiet until the dealer monkeys messed with something, which they didn't tell me. You're also getting more flow than I am, but I'm limited to a 10 amp breaker, which comes out to 3 gpm.

I've tried to quiet the water pump in every trailer we've ever owned but in each case only with moderate success until I finally did solve the issue completely with our most recent travel trailer. The pump runs so quietly I had to add a light to the circuit so I'd know when it's running and when it's not.

Still broken? You could get a 2 foot piece of tubing. Attach to the pump intake and stick into a bucket of water.

If the pump noise stops that could mean there is an air leak somewhere on the intake tube.

Just tossing out ideas.

Water HAMMER or pump hammer
The first.. You turn on the faucet and it's good but you turn it off and WHAM.. This is caused by the water hammer absorbers (Look like a short pipe going nowhere) filling with water... NOW not all RV's even have these because the lines are not long enough to cause water hammer.. IF you need an explanation as to the cause.. Well I and Newton do have one.

Pump hammer.. The pump is a "Jack hammer" type device and it will hammer the lines from time to time.. Two things.. Sometimes the manufacturer runs PEX all the way to the pump. puttin a "loop" of flexible pipe in either side of the pump. fixes it.. But I have that loud hammer frequently and my RV already has flexible lines to the pump (I know I checked)

Time will fix it. I do not yet know the cause. I know sometimes if I run out of water. it gets LOUD and then after I FILL it will stay loud for a while. then it simply goes away.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

A possibility of the pump being a much too high volume for the system? NAHH Builders never put anything but bare minimum components in their units. Silly me

I find that I get hammering when I run out of water and air gets into the lines. After having a good supply of water again I run the outside shower until the hammering stops. Works every time.
