Suburban Furnace won't fire

I have a 2011 Keystone Springdale travel trailer 311RE. I just opened it up for the season last week. Did all the usual vacuuming and cleaning that one normally does. It was a bit chilly (45*) so I decided to fire up the furnace. I opened the valves on the propane and then lit the stove burners to fill the system. Turned them off and then when I turned the furnace on, it ran and then I could hear the clicking as it was trying to light, but would just keep trying and then after a few minutes it would shut down. Never had any trouble with this furnace. It's a Suburban model SF-30F. I looked on youtube and there are all kinds of videos for troubleshooting but I'm not quite sure where to start. There is no opening on the outside of the trailer so it looks like the unit will have to come out through the inside. Suggestions are welcome. Happy Easter to everyone.

  • I had the exact same problem on my SF-30F about 2 weeks ago. Cure was to replace the board. No spark.

    Any update to this Duane?

He had two threads going with basically the same question. Look here for the answer here
  • even if it IS plugged into shore power, I would still check the battery status.
  • RV furnaces won't work if you don't have adequate battery charge - if the rig isn't plugged into shore power I would check battery status.
  • Morphrider- I'll check the intake and exhaust for obstructions. I have those mud dauber screens on there but they still may have gotten in.
Old-Biscuit- I'll try turning the burners back on and leaving them on while the furnace is trying to light. I turned the burners on and then off right after they lit. Thanks both for the suggestions. Hope it lights and I don't have to take it apart. Happy Easter.

  • Another thing to look at is on the outside of the trailer, look at the fresh air intake for the furnace. I had a wasp nest that was only a 3 cell nest on a pop up years ago that gave me fits. I owned it for 3 years, never could get heater going until, believe it or not, the day I sold it. I seen that very small nest way in there, popped it out and it fired right up.
  • Light those stove top burners back on...high and leave them on

Then keep trying furnace UNTIL the propane actually flows to the furnace

There is only 0.4 psi in system
Takes a bit/attempts to get ALL lines flowing
