Supco SPP6E Hard Start Unit

I have a 2010 TT with a Coleman Mach 3 A/C unit (1350 BTU). I also have 2 Yamaha 2000's that I run the A/C with. I am thinking of installing a Supco SPP6E hard start unit to assist the generators and hoping I can operate the generators in the automatic idle reduction mode. Has anyone had any experience with a similar situation? Or a recommendation.

Call RVP for sure. They should be able to tell you what your exact model number should have been equipped with. Thread mentions that I was going to install SPP6E then found out it already had a start cap with start relay. Chris Bryant (again, thanks, Chris!) looked my nameplate info up and determined that. Sure enough, I was up there working and that's what it had. From all my reading:

Should start on Shore Tie AC power (given tie cable and campground power are up to spec) with only its Run Capacitor

Will start more easily with an SPP6-type device (start cap and PTCR)

Starts still better with SPP6E-type (start cap and electronic relay)

Starts even better with the RVP option (start cap and start relay)

Two additional points on EDIT:

It seems some coach builders order RVP with start kits because they know the unit will be equipped with a generator and generators can use the help. I guess they assume a trailer, built without a generator, will always be plugged into a pedestal. They may not have anticipated so many of you carrying portable generators.

In the closely related marine A/C field, Dometic offers a start kit that is supposed to outperform all of the above. At least that's their claim. I'm not enough of an engineer to evaluate that, nor enough technician to be sure it's compatible with other brands and their wiring schemes.

Contact the manufacturer RVP.

Several years ago I had trouble getting my Yamaha EF2400IS to run my AC. Called support and the gentleman mailed me a hard start capacitor for free. (Thank you RVP) Came with instructions and took about 1/2 hour to install. Removing and replacing the shroud took most of the time. Have your Model and Serial number ready.
