Four dollars seventy cents each times qty 10. Weight 7 ounces.

They tried pulling a forty nine dollar ninety nine cent shipping and handling stunt on me.

I filed my fangs sharp as a hypodermic needle and sent them an email that was near incandescent. Included the words bait & switch, Con Artist, Misconduct.

Four minutes later I received this reply. it is a cut and paste

I understand your concern and I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

I've forwarded a report to the appropriate department about this issue so they can check the origin of the problem.

In the meantime, if you want to proceed with the order -- have it shipped via one-day shipping to your preferred address. And as an exception, as long as it's sold and shipped by Amazon or it's at least "Fulfilled by Amazon." -- we'll refund or waive the shipping costs of the new order.

Please write us back with the new Order ID once you successfully placed the order so we can remove the shipping charges right away.

As always, thank you for your continued patronage.

I hope this helps. We look forward to see you again soon.

Don't take this stuff sitting down. eBay would be damned near impossible to converse with. This is why I prefer Amazon I am old, grouchy, and stooped. The only thing left that works right is between my ears. Double check your online tech gear purchases, and I for one would appreciate hearing about Chicanery. I also appreciate hearing strongly positive reports like for Randy at Best Converter and John Marles at Megawatt.

Grrr now I gotta go bite someone...

When I politely queried Amazon about a costly pricing error, they quickly made the appropriate correction, shipped the item overnight even though it was free shipping, and added a $20 gift card to my account. Sometimes it pays to give them a chance to correct an error before going postal.

Oh don't even get me started with THOSE folks.

The DW had ended up as a volunteer 'community moderator' with the Vanadian equivalent of fleaBay Classifieds, Kijiji up here. She came to me all upset one with a message from the Grand High Poobah's right-hand man.

Paraphrasing heavily, it basically said, "Do NOT delete ads from scammers, spammers, and other assorted scoundrels. Period." .

Their stated reasoning was that these 'free' sites pay their bills by making money from from the banner ads and they really don't care why people click on the ads, it's money in the bank.

It's the same with anything else, there's no profit in customer service ......... as far they're concerned.

The rest of us think otherwise.

I'd rather take a chance in shipping a case of New Testaments to a post office box in the Kandahar Valley than risk a shipment of anything to Mexico.

Yep.

I ship stuff to a business site in Mexico pretty often. The ONLY way to get it there semi-reliably is FedEx Express, and using the FedEx broker. And sometimes it still gets held up for several days.

I once had a shipment of 4 sealed white 5-gallon plastic buckets, each with its own waybill. They all made it to the FedEx facility in Mexico City. ONE OF THEM somehow got on the FedEx flight to SHANGHAI, CHINA. I called FedEx and put a trace on it. They eventually found it in Shanghai, and shipped it back to the FedEx Asia/Pacific hub in Anchorage, AK. Then it went to Memphis, then finally back to Mexico City, where it joined the other 3 buckets patiently waiting. They all cleared customs and eventually made it to their destination in Mexico.

I didn't know whether to be mad at FedEx for losing it in the first place, or amazed that they managed to find it and ship it back around the world to the correct destination.

Now that's funny.

Just FYI, I finally got Amazon Prime and it's amazing.

A friend of mine who sells on Etsy learned that the hard way. She shipped to Mexico, and in just 1-2 days, the seller filed a PayPal dispute. Well, the package was shipped (there was proof of that, as she uses a third party to certify that items were physically packed in the containers before shipping.) The package just didn't make it across the border. Thankfully, PayPal sided with her, and it was up to the buyer to make the insurance claim.

I ONLY buy stuff from Amazon that says this: sold and shipped by Amazon or it's at least "Fulfilled by Amazon".
