I'll have to scan my schematics, but the Triad-Utrad, then Magnetek ferroresonant converters I worked on had no resistors or relays- just the transformer, the capacitors on the resonant circuit (at ~600 volts), and 2 rectifiers. They put out 1/2 wave rectified DC, and the battery was an integral part of the design, though you could throw a large capacitor in there.I worked on a bunch.
