Thermostat faulty?

We turned air on this afternoon and I don't know if something is wrong with thermostat or what. Air is staying on and not shutting off at all no matter what temp I set it at......any suggestions?

Thanks

So it was just the FAN running not the A/C Unit......that makes a difference.

Fan in Auto comes on only when A/C Unit runs.

Fan in HI or LO it runs, will even run when Furnace comes on.

Operator error is easiest fix of all

No the air conditioner was running and cycling but the fan was not.

  • It is a Dometic air conditioner and Dometic wall thermostat. I think I found the problem. When you turn it on whether you are using the AC or Furnace you first have to go to Fan and it has choices of Hi, Lo or Auto. It had somehow gotten put on high so it wasn't cycling. Anyway hope it's fixed. Thanks for all your input.
  • Check your manual or download a copy from the thermostat company website. Many thermostats come with "ON" which makes the fan run all the time and "auto" which makes the fan cycle with the A/C. The thermostat on my current rig is not as user friendly as the one in my house and doesn't have an "auto" but I had to use the manual to find that it was in the "On" position without it saying it was.

It'd help if you'd describe the Make and Model of the A/C in question.

Does it use a Wall Thermostat, like a house, and if so, does it require batteries? If so, and they're dead, possibility of erratic operation.

When you get back with us...

When it won't shut off, is the whole system (Compressor and Fan) running?
    Just the Compressor?
    Just the Fan?
