tire question... HELP!!

Question

Following our latest driving I noticed a chuck out of the tread of one of our Michelin XZA3 275/80 R 22.5 less than two years old. Took some photos to a Michelin Truck Tire Dealer expecting they would love the opportunity to sell me a new tire. Instead, they said not to worry. Since no cords were showing they said it was safe to drive on. Just wondering if anybody out there has had a similar experience.

That doesn't look like a problem.Truck tires have issues like that all the time. Nothing serious as long as it is in the tread and no deeper than the tread.

We drove 4000 miles before replacing tires with a gouge out of one. We replaced because of age not tread wear.

I'm not a tire expert so I do not know if that is a problem or not.  Rather than taking a picture to the tire shop I might suggest taking the RV to the tire shop so they can physically inspect the tire.  Personally, I just don't like the looks of that tire.  Of course I start to worry about tires as soon as they start with very small spider cracks on the sidewall.
