I replaced my Thetford toilet with a Dometic 310 toilet in my Tahoe toy hauler. The replacement went smooth and easy. My problem is when you flush the toilet and then don't use it for a few minutes it takes about 3 seconds for the water to reach the bowl. Sometimes it takes longer if it sits. I talked to customer service and we went through a few steps. First we hooked it up to the city water connection, still did it. I was sent 2 screws to secure the water valve(some toilets were being sent out without those screws), No result. Then I was sent a new water valve, no result. Dometic is going to send me a replacement toilet(awesome customer service). My problem is I am afraid it is going to do it again but I cannot think of what the problem on the trailer side could be. The old toilet did not do it, I replaced it because of a broken pedal. Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have no help ideas if Dometic doesn't either...but...I'd hook up a temperory water supply to the new unit they send you BEFORE you install it and test it.Do this test outside your rig in the driveway right after you unpack the replacement.

I believe that's how they work. I have had a few in different units and they all act like that, either on city water or the water pump.

Those 2 screws are NEVER installed by Dometic when built. Those screws are supplied when you replace the water inlet valve and you use them when you replace the valve. ALL those screws do is make sure the new valve does not "pop" loose since the original is a plastic catch type system. I would suspect this water valve is defective or has some type of debris in it. But, Dometic has built thousands of these model toilets and that is a new complaint, that I also have never heard of. They sent a new toilet because I assume they want the old back to test it? Or did they just state to throw the old away? Doug

That's how mine acts. I guess they'd rather send you a new one than admit that's how it works. Please update when you put in the new one!

Mine works the same way. I just accepted it working that way. After my own frustration, I figure some guy sitting behind a desk on the 215th floor of a building in some country no one ever heard of had a brain storm of an idea! He's probably never seen an RV, let alone a campsite, but his marvelous new design sold! So here we are!

Hey! talking about toilets? did anyone see "Sunday Morning on CBS" this week! They had an article about Japaneese designed toilets. The thing that made me laugh was when they said, visitors to Japan get so confused when using them, they can't figure them out! Wonder when folks start putting THEM in their RV's! But at $20,000 a toilet, I don't think very many will be installing more than 1 in their RV! :B

Water supply is down low at pedal

When you push pedal down water then flows thru water supply assembly up to top of toilet where vacuum breaker canister is located.
Vacuum breaker canister fills up, closes air vent off then can be pressurized to flow into to bowl connection, flow around rim and then out rim holes into toilet bowl

This can take 2 to 3 seconds on the norm.........longer if RV supply pressure is low, toilet water supply assembly is clogged or line up to vacuum breaker is pinched

Dometic did not say whether or not they want the toilet back. I'm supposed to contact the lady once I have completed repairs and let her know. Thanks for the explanation on how the toilet works I guess I'm having a hard time with "that's how they work" when my first toilet had instant water. The Dometic was supposed to be a better toilet. The new one is supposed to be delivered soon so i will update when I find out anything. thanks again

IF they don't want it back........store it for later. Take seals out and place them in a zip lock bag after coating them with olive oil. Then throw a garden trash bag over the rest of toilet. (Spare parts when needed)
