Trailer disconnect switch

Got home from camping today and found that my disconnect switch not disconnecting. Doesn't surprise me as the switch is on the front frame rail and gets plastered with mud, all the wires hook into the main switch body behind the frame but this area still gets muddy and the last few trip have been a real wet sloppy mess. So what are guys using for a better switch then the push pull type that have a more protected back end?
  • This Cole Hersee disconnect switch is one of the best, basically sealed to the environment. I have three of their selectable switches and they are sealed with an O ring.
  • What about something like this? Looks like it has a cap to seal the keyed switch and I was thinking I could put the unit in a outdoor plug box with the neck sticking through the frame for access. Anyone have any experience with this switch?

Well that was what I was planning on doing but didn't get around to it yet. I might be able to clean up the switch I have now but it might be easier to just replace as its packed with mud and push, pulling kind of hard at this point.
  • I use a Blue Sea marine switch. It's mounted in a plastic electrical box attached to the side of one of the battery boxes and disconnects the negative cable.
