I am still getting good performance with my three 85AH standard issue Interstate Batteries I installed in 2008 when I got my off-road trailer. I originally had four but boiled out the fluids in one of them and it didn't recover. Now it has the modern PD9260C converter/charger on-board and all still working good.
I have started planning on new ones but haven't done it yet. I am relly thinking hard about putting two Trojan T1275s on the trailer tongue and two additional Trojan 1275s in the bed of my truck. This will give my 300AHs capacity in both battery banks and will feed my two hobbies of high power two way radio's and camping. When I am in camping mode I can connect the two banks together to give my 600AHs...
That should help out big time. Still working out the re-charging techniques and all. they also cost alot....
I had four GP24 85AH Interstates across the trailer tongue here at one time...
My batteries do well if I only drop them down to around 12.0VDC before re-charging and never start any long night runs on the batteries unless I start out with at least a good 90% charge state.
When camping off the power grid we will run alot of our 120VAC toys from a 600WATT PSW Inverter and several other 12VDC items direct connected to the batteries and will draw around 20AMPS of current from 8PM to 11PM. The rest of the night usually draws around 1-2AMPS from the parasitic drains for the keep alive things until 8AM the next morning. Then we re-charge again back up to the 90% charge state to do it all over again for the next day/night battery run.
Being successful takes some planning
