I would not be surprised at all. Best idea is to borrow one from someone's living room and connect it into your bedroom with some cables. I reckon it will work fine. My bedroom TV works the same as my living room TV, you have to go to Menu, then set it up for antenna or cable, search for channels to program it at every stop (mostly). It is wired up so the antenna basically sees two TV's available. Each can be on their own channel as required.

And, for the record, we put a Samsung into our bedroom. Works just fine.

Red/White/Yellow (3 cables) is composite not component. R/G/B/R/W is component (5 cables) = MUCH higher quality.

I bit the bullet and ran HDMI cables to 3 of our 4 TVs then added an HDMI switcher so that all sources can reach all 3 TVs.

Our 2004 Country Coach was never wired for satellite to the Bedroom. Cable or over air was all we could get back there. We hire an RV Satellite "guru" in Houston to wire it. Had to add another LNB to the satellite dome, add splitter and diplexer to bedroom. We then used the input key on the remote to get satellite in the bedroom.

X2 what Mike and Carol says. I got rid of all my older TV's back in 2009 and went to WALMART and got VIZIO Tv sets... 24-inch and 26-inch sizes for the RV's

Another item here.... Our local TV provider here finally made us all get small TV boxes for each of TV sets we are using which was fed by the cable TV signal and produced HDMI outputs. We used to feed every thing from one RG cable going through splitter boxes... With this new small TV box for each TV we select HDMI on the TV set to watch it. Both Audio and Video works over the HDMI signal...

So then I used one of those small boxes with my 24-inch Computer Monitor which had a HDMI input and the cable TV worked just fine with that. NO TV SET needed... each small TV BOX comes with it own TV THUMPER...

Maybe you can get something like this to work for you and just run a HDMI cable back to the Bedroom location... These small TV boxes are called Digital Terminal Adapters... When you first have these plugged in and connected to the cable TV they run a setup to find all of the available channels I guess... Then the thumper works... This is a complete digital TV tuner with a HDMI signal output... No TV SET needed - just a monitor that has HDMI input... Sometimes we have to reset them again (turn OFF and then turn back ON again)... If we need a new TV SET again I am just going to get a large regular Computer Monitor haha...

If your bedroom TV is older however it probably does not have HDMI input port as well haha... The VIZIO TV sets has multiple INPUT ports on the back of them. Mine has two HDMI ports...

The VIP211z has a component output that should work with your older TV if it has a component input (red, white, yellow - like for a video game, etc.) You would need to run a component cable back to the bedroom. Another option would be to use a component to RF adapter: run a composite cable from the VIP211z to the RF adapter and connect the output of the RF adapter to the coax cable that runs from the front to your rear TV. Then you just tune the rear TV to channel 3 or 4, depending on how you set up the adapter up front. There should be a switch for you to select channel 3 or 4 on the RF adapter.

You would have to make channel selections at the VIP211z. I used to point my remote down the hall from the bedroom, when I had such a setup. The other alternative is to get an IR remote repeater, so you can use a remote in the bedroom, which relays a signal to the repeater near the VIP211z, which then signals the satellite box for whatever you have requested on the remote (i.e., channel change, volume change, etc.).

Right around 2007 they changed TV's to digital. If you still have an analog TV in the bedroom, they can watch cable TV just fine, but they do not have the electronics to watch digital from satellite or from antenna. Buy a new one for a few hundred dollars, and your system will likely work fine. I found out my TV was no good, a beautiful Sony Wega, in my Triple E top end motorhome.

You said "I have the box up front" Do you mean a "Box of many buttons" (BOMB or properly called a Matrix Switch?) I am assuming you do.

Now, let me ask you some questions that make where I must not make assumptions because doing so will screw it up.

Make and model of sat receiver (DISH or Direct) Example Dish network VIP 211 Z or VIP-211K

How old is your RV, IE: brand new, pre 2008.

Depending on the answers I can get specific.

ON your "MAIN" (Front TV) do you change a setting on the TV to watch sat, Perhaps changing it from TV to either LINE (A/V) or HDMI in?

What I suspect:
The BOMB (For short) is a coax switcher. it selects between different COAX sources (And optionall one A/V source, that being DVD) and sends it via coax (DVD the box has a converter built in, technical name "Modulator") to wherever you send it (MAIN, TV-=2, TV-3 AUX, VCR(DVR).

But the VIP-211Z and in fact most modern Sat Receivers does not have COAX out, only HDMI and possibly modular (also known as PBy) and A/V

So the reason you can't send Sat to the rear is... You don't have the proper cable.

IF so, there are multiple solutions
Best: Run a HDMI cable from teh front to the back and install a HDMI splitter, the Sat receiver can easily drive two dislays

Use A/V out to the DVD in on the matrix switch (BOMB) some loss of quality and of course you need to switch back for DVD playback.

NOTE.. *I have a Dish VIP-211k (not a Z) it still outputs to coax, as well as A/V and HDMI.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

after a semi "nicked" it. Still have the radios

Do you have a new RV or an older one?

I had this problem with one of my older MH's right when TV went digital.

They said it was because from the factory there is a splitter from the front of the MH to the back in the bedroom. Analog TV and cable had no problem with this but the new digital TV and satellite did.

Till the day I sold the RV you couldn't watch the TV in the bedroom.
