Water heater

Arrived at the campground hooked everything up but electric heater didn't work. I hooked up to city water waited until water flowed freely and then turned on switch always worked until now! Gas water heater runs fine. Any ideas?
  • AC breaker tripped
    Bad t-stat/tripped t-stat
    Bad element

Suburban has separate t-stats and are resettable (In outside compartment under cover that states 'Push to Reset') Left one is for 110V AC element.....right one for 12V DC propane)

Atwood uses same t-stats for both so if propane is working it isn't a t-stat problem

Really depends on which Brand/Model water heater.

Helps us out with more info :B
  • I know on my Suburban, there was also a switch in the water heater compartment that was very difficult to see. When I was cleaning the compartment one time, I accidently switched it off.
  • I tried for an hour once to get mine working after de-winterizing. Then I realized I still had the bypass valve in bypass.
  • Most of the time the problems are bad connections at the water heater. Just try removing and reinstalling all the connections.

Unplug and re-seat the "edge connector" to the heater's circuit board. My first thought is that a connector problem would keep it from working on LPG as well as 120VAC. But it's a free try.
  • After 10 years of use my WH wires fried and I have to completely dismantle it to fix it. But start with something simple like the switches mentioned before taking it apart.
It is like mine the wiring is almost impossible to get to.
