Water Pump Filter/Strainer
My RV has a Shurflo "classic" water pump and attached to the supply side of the pump is a Shurflo filter/strainer. On a service visit while correcting a water problem the service tech took off the filter/strainer and reinstalled it so that the filter basket containing the screen now sits on the top. He said the filter works better this way. All of the pictures that I have seen of this filter installed and other basket filters have the basket filter screen on the bottom (water flows down into the filter and then back up to the outlet).
I have been wondering if the service tech knew what he was doing when he turned this filter over. Does it matter if the filter screen is on the top or the bottom? Does the filter still function effectively this way?
