WFCO 8955 question

at 12.1 volts the batteries are very low the charging time will depend on the charging rate of your converter. but 10 minutes is not even close to being long enough.imho

That model charger rarely will go into boost mode, 12.9V was all it could put out based on the amp draw and voltage loss.

You also have close to 0.7 volt drop in the wire from converter to battery :(
Pull some #4 along with installing a new converter.

Your WFCO is not going into boost must likely due to too small and to long a wire run to batteries. Like somebody else said run some much heavier wire, as heavy as will fit in the WFCO connections

I'm on of the lucky ones with the WFCO. Mine actually goes into boost quite easily if the batteries are low but my wire run is only about 5' and came from the factory with #4 wire.

The plugged in voltage at the battery was 13.2 when I picked it up thursday so I would have expected it to go higher than that when first plugged in.

My plan is to upgrade the wire and the converter soon. I just thought it was odd that it only went to 12.9

Two things:

One: Very hard to get it to go into BOOST or BULK mode (two names, same mode, rapid charge from "Run down" to around 90 percent)

Two: Dying young.. Short Mean time between failure. From another poster who knows them better than I, turns out it is both easily repairable and easily prevented (this early death) but alas WFCO does not do it (Prevention would cost.. NOTHING as it turns out)

I don't generally use it for battery recharging because of the 265watts solar but before solar it would stay at 14.4 for a couple hours if I started with the batteries at fairly low levels. But remember I got a fairly short wire run and big wires from the factory plus using twin Trojan 6 volts keeps the amps flowing for a long time recharging. Probable took it to around 90%. Like I said one of the lucky ones.

I don't see where anyone answered your question.

The answer is Yes, it should have went to well over 13 volts even if the batteries were stone dead, let alone at 12.1 volts.
