Why is the mirror vibrating so bad I can't see behind me?

Tell me about it. The screws were only #10X11/2, to hold the big heavy rear view mirrors. I replaced with stainless #12 X 11/2 They tightened up pretty good. The threads on the old screws were mostly gone. I think they will hold till I get home in a month or so.I will make a better repair then.
