Wind noise

A loud wind whistle has just started, seems to be from the front of the driver window, (stationary part). It's a Winnebago and was not there last time I drove it.
Starts about 40 MPH and gets louder. I have opened the window side that opens, moved the screen around, pushed all around, etc., but it still goes on. Any suggestions please.
  • This might be a little far fetched but thought I'd mention it anyway. Check the drains in the sinks as you're under way and the noise occurs. Listen for maybe a sort of whistling noise that is coming out of the drain. This noise happens when the p trap is empty of liquid and air blows down through the roof vent and comes up out of the sink drain. Don't ask how I know this cause I chased it for years before my wife heard this sound coming out of the drain. Now we always screw down the sink stopper.
  • The one I had issues with, was just in front of the outside mirror.
I first put a piece of tape over it. Later used silicone.
  • Thank you to all who replied. I will do some testing this weekend.
It is for sure a high pitched wind noise, not any "hooting" from the motor. I will inspect all the weep holes and rubber molding.
    Appreciate your suggestions.
  • As previously said, check the weep holes along the bottom of the window. Also, if you have other fixed windows, (eg: in front of driver window or above driver window), check that the rubber molding that holds the glass in place is properly in place. Missing or shrunk rubber molding can cause wind noise. Good luck-- Mick

You're saying wind noise, but I wonder if it's a noisy Idle Air Compensation (IAC) Valve on your engine. Particularly if it's a Ford. It's what I'll call a "hooting" sound, like a distant ship's whistle, or a saxophone note.

IAC fails noisy on Fords a lot. About $60 part, two small screws and an electrical connector.
  • Look in window frame for a small slot cut into it for a drain. If present try putting a piece of tape over it to see if noise goes away. Some have small covers to prevent noise, however they fall out.
