Has anyone used this external WiFi unit. It retails for around $600 and then a low monthly fee but promises WiFi on the move anywhere. Any thoughts out there?

I can confirm that you should not do anything at this time with this unit. Sorry, I can't give you any details.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Yikes! Very expensive cell plan. 1GB for $20 up to 20GB for $150. I'm paying Verizon $153/month for 2 cell phones and MiFi with 24GB. We cut all of our wired home connections and only use Verizon at home and in the RV.

I would certainly expect the Wineguard unit to have better range than the MiFi but Verizon's coverage is the best.

What this does is take the weak signal in the CG or any other wifi signal close to your parked RV and then boosts it inside your motorhome for all your wifi connected appliances. It does NOT pull in a signal while in transit like a phone. Now, if you PAY for the Winegard 4G LTE plan, then you will get that signal while in transit as long as you are close to a Cell tower for your plan. The original design was for the boost of the signal in the campground. Doug

Here's a Amazon Link and the cost is $606. On the above Amazon link the reviews 3 stars with AT&T cell data usage. On the move access must be able to connect to AT&T and all providers have dead zones.

There is a post on another forum to NOT buy this as a new unit is coming out in earlY 2018.

Also be aware that if you are using CG etc WiFi it's almost always unsecure. And that includes a community password. If you use VPN then that is secure.
