Cool thanks everyone. Have vinegar in there now. Going off that link it seems that its beneficial to heat the water. I ran out of vinegar so i only let the water heater fill for 45 seconds. Its not completely filled but hopefully high enough to be soaking the deposits around the drain plug. Debating if i should turn the electric element on, knowing its not completely filled. Where is the thermometer on these suburbans? Will a water heater filled to only 1/3 capacity maintain proper temps?
NO...
Thermostats are high up on tank where the water is Hottest
Above gas valve and under that cover that states 'Push To Reset'
High Temp T-stat is a manual push button reset
120VAC is on left side (black wires)
12VDC for GAS is on right side (Red wires)
Get more vinegar to fill WH TANK....scale/calcium is not just at bottom but all the way to hot water level
Do NOT operate electric or gas w/o a full tank
Tank is Steel (hence the need for anode rod) and is Glass-lined
Operating w/o full tank can cause overheating of tank and cracking of the glass-lining...then Steel tank WILL rust
