Xnatrex Freedom 458 2500 watt
I have a Xantrex Freedom 458 2500 watt inverter/charger with the basic Remote Panel in my motorhome. The motorhome is parked at the storgage lot and I check on it every couple of weeks. Last week when I checked on it the 4 6 volt batteries were dead. They were over seven years old. I had then checked out and they could not be charged. So, I replaced them with the identical rated batteries. They were fully charged.
Not here is the problem I am having. The Xantrex remote panel would only show the charge light lit. None of the other lights were on and the panel would not respond when I pushed the inverter, setup, or powershare buttons. The charge light was only on if I was running the generator. When I went directly to the inverter/charger I could control it by pressing the buttons on the unit itself. I then hooked the remote panel directly to the inverter/charger with a short 6 wire RJ11 cable. And the panel worked. So I figured I may have a broken wire in the RJ11 cable that goes to where the remote is normally mounted. Today, I went out to do some work on the motorhome in preparation for going south for the winter. The remote panel would not work with my short RJ11 cable today as it did a couple of days ago. I can still control the inverter/charger directly by using the buttons on the unit. It appears that all the electrical in the coach works.
Do any of you have any thoughts of what may be the problem? I appreciate what ever you may suggest.
