For me mainly using my 2019 2500 hd for work it is modified(added 52 gallons of fuel with transfer pump, 560ah battery bank with 100amp alternator charging, 2400 watt inverter rear seat removed and bed platform installed, upgraded wheels and tires for 4500lbs per corner) so that is a big consideration.
I usually keep mine about five years because stripping my stuff out and reinstalling takes some time. In 2019 I traded a 2013 2500hd diesel with a little over 100,000 miles that I bought used and got more than I paid for it as well as a good price on the 2019, I did have to travel from the Seattle area to Twin Falls Idaho for it though.
That being said if my truck was not modified I would probably still stick with the older truck, especially if I didn’t care for lot of the upgrades in the newer model, but then i usually go with LT trim as I fell like there is less **** to go wrong.
