What’s a shame is that in the last, well, forever, no one has built a small light duty American diesel that was really worth a carp. The baby Dmax 3.0 is the most proven one of the bunch so far. Even though Chrysler had a 3.0 for like 15 years.
Remember when GM almost launched the 4.5L Duramax for their 1500 trucks back in 2010. They even had the factory in New York state ready to go, but the poor economy made GM have second thoughts and they pulled the plug on it. It won't be long and they'll pull the plug on the 3.0L because the factory probably will be retooled to produce batteries for EV's.
