Lots going on and one that might extend the life of ICE's is the latest and greatest CO2 recovery system and that they can recombine it to form ICE fuel
ZERO sum game in the carbon fuel...no crude required in this process...but it is new and will take many turns during it's maturation curve...but...tons of R&D money is pouring in...
This will stall/slow the transition to EV's...my bet is that the main stay will be hybrids. That gets much larger mileage range over pure EVs
EV only firms will suffer if they don't have the $$$/resources to weather that
