19.5 wheel/tire advice

Say a guy would like to explore 19.5 wheels and tires.

What would a good tire be that is similar to a 285/70 Toyo M/T? I know they don't make a full mud/snow tire in that rim size but I do get offroad and don't want a full road tire.

Also, is the 285/70-19.5 tire sizes equal to what I run now? I'd prefer to not go smaller.

Or would I be better off sticking to a 17" tire? I need more tire capacity. Thanks all!

I like the traction with my Toyo's they are louder than some but not a problem with me. I have driven them for 22K on snow, ice and many gravel roads but not in the mud, I'm pleased with their traction.

I ran the Toyo 608Z on a 08 F450 and you will be surprised how little noise they make on pavement. Check out the Toyo M920 also, its not as aggressive as the 608Z

I can't comment on vision wheels. I have used Rickson gear since 2004 and have found it flawless. Dan, the owner, carefully inspects tires for roundness and his mount and balance system is very thoughtful. They ship all over. I'm not an agent for Rickson, just a happy customer. There are not many who know more about 19.5" tech than Rickson.

Thanks! Looks like Vision will be the one due to availability if I go this route. I donlt think I can find a 17" wheel/tire combo to carry 8100 lbs......

Thanks, those look like they would work decent. I can deal with the noise, price isn't bad for the size either. Am I stuck with only Vision and Rickson for wheels? I haven't found other options.....

Yep those are the two choices for SRW 19.5 wheels

I had Visions on the SRW. My F450 has stock Alcoa rims.

They do make off road tires for the 4 wheel drive construction industry. There are 4 wheel drive crane trucks, utility trucks, and such. Have you seen the power lines that cross the mountains? They are installed with 4X4 cranes and trucks.

I have not seen a construction water truck with street tires on it. Usually they are some sort of mud and snow tire. . .

Fred.

Awesome news, know the brand/styles they use?

I ran 245s on my SRW and now run 225s on my DRW. I run Hankook DH01s. They are probably more aggressive than I need, but so far, they haven't failed me on slick roads whether snow or slick mud.

Wow only $260 a tire for 245's! You have my attention! Did they pack with mud easy? The pattern looks tighter than the toyo's.
