2002 Honda accord

We are new to RVing and are about to purchase our first class A motor home. I have a 2002 Honda Accord with an automatic transmission and would like to tow it when we are traveling. Since it is front wheel drive I am wondering if I would need to use a dolly or can it be towed with all wheels on the ground.
  • In 02, all Hondas were considered flat towable. Just do "The Procedure".
  • I tow a 2001 accord and have about 10,000 miles towing it without a problem so far. I am very careful to follow the guidelines that include these steps:

    1. Run the engine at least 5 minutes every 3-4 hours to lube the tranny. I have gone longer but not very often.

    2. Before starting I run mine through all gears and MAKE SURE that the last gear change is from drive to neutral.

    3. Rarely run over 65 MPH, USUALLY 60ish

Make sure steering is unlocked and all battery demands are turned off, radio etc. Check your owners manual for instructions RE your year model. Also do a search online for other recommendations. Your experience may be different than mine. Good luck.
  • what does your owner's manual say under recreational towing or towing behind a motorhome?
