The weight of the cab is the difference. The quad cab long bed and the mega cab short bed have the same overall length and wheelbase. Since the mega can only come with a short bed, you either need to have a slide fifth wheel hitch or mount it further back than you would in a long bed. The added weight of the cab and the location of the hitch will affect the way the pin weight will be carried.
