ib516 I tried to PM you but was blocked. I notice in your sig you have a Predator in your Dodge. What tune do you have it set to when you're towing if you don't mind me asking? I've had a Preditor in our Sierra for 5 years set to "tow tune" because I'm afraid of blowing something up if I set it any hotter. Many thanks.
Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)
I use the Hypertech for towing - I think it's safer and it's proved itself to be safe for 4 years in all kinds of towing conditions. I trust it. In stage 2, the Hypertech is +75hp/+125tq on my truck.
To me, the Predator is more boy racer. The only reason I got the Predator is I got it for $60, and it will activate the cruise control activated fast idle feature that the Hypertech will not. I use the Predator in the lowest setting (tow +60hp/+120tq) in winter just to have the Cruise control high idle feature. I have tried it in the higher settings, and it makes the truck very zippy....but I love the power, and it's too tempting to use it - it gets up to illegal speeds so quickly, and it pours out black smoke when you get on it in the higher settings. I'm not a fan of either of those two things.
I know the dealer can enable the high idle feature, but once you change settings on the Hypertech (from one power level to another), it cancels that enable the dealer did so I have to call a favor in and get it done again.
95% of the summer, I'm in Stage 2 (middle setting) on the Hypertech, and in winter, I'm on the tow tune in the Predator with the high idle enabled.
Long answer eh? :)
This is the Predator I have
