2014 Toyota Highlander XLE - can I add a Brake Box?

We have the dealer installed hitch and 4pin harness. Trailer we want to pull has the 7 pin and brakes. Toyota does not offer a 7 pin for the Highlander (silly to offer a 5000# tow rating without a 7...

Don't know about the 2014 for sure, but my 2008 was not difficult to get wired for a brake controller. My manual specifies trailer brakes required if towing over 1000 lb.

I guess you could call a Toyota dealer and ask them. If they say 'sure, no problem,' you know it will not mess up the computer. Then go to a shop with a lower price that also says 'no problem'.
