how much off "flat" did it go? are we talking "almost flat" or at a 45 degree angle?

Almost flat -- like a 5-degree angle up. It almost seemed like a feature designed to keep things from rolling out of the back with the tailgate down. I looked at the cables and they didn't seem long enough. This was in a semi-dark garage though and I didn't spend a lot of time trying to figure it out.
