2015 Colorado firsthand experience ?

does anyone have first hand experience towing with the new Colorado yet?
  • What do you want to tow? I have a '98 GMC Sonoma (same thing, earlier version) that I used to pull a "52 Ford on a flatbed from Ohio to Texas. Totally stable, no issues. The new Colorado/Canyon's are a little larger, have 100 hp more and are rated for 7000# with the trailer package. I'm looking for a crew cab, long bed version now to pull my 10' cargo camper conversion (single 3500# axle) or my 16' car hauler. Wires for a trailer brake controller are tucked in the driver's kick panel. I'd like to hear from a current model owner as well.

A '98 Sonoma and a 2015 Colorado/Canyon are TOTALLY unrelated vehicles. NO comparison!
  • Keith - mid-size truck, 4.3L. Did pretty well then and after 16 years of advancement would expect the new offerings to be much more capable. So much more worth consideration now if you're not doing heavy duty hauling!
Bigfoot - thanks for the video reference!

S10/Sonoma was a compact truck, Colorado/Canyon is a mid-size (think Dodge Dakota) and VERY much more capable. IMHO comparing them to the S10 is a bit of a put-down.
That video Bigfoot linked is quite impressive.
  • Oh cool, TFL truck did a video on it! Looks like it tows great, but in between they say they maxed out the payload with two guys and no cargo.

Hmm, yeah. Be interesting to see how much the diesel reduces that.
Hopefully it still has more than the RAM 1500 with the diesel engine:R
