I agree, that is something that I hated about GM when I was looking at half tons. In order to get the 6.2 gas engine in a half ton GM product, you had to step up pretty high in the trim department. I didn't want all the fancy gizmo's and gadgets, and I sure didn't want to pay the price for them. I ended up buying my Tundra because I could get a pretty base model Tundra with the big V8 engine for thousands less than a GM, because they forced me to add options I didn't need or want.
I really think they are shooting themselves in the foot with that sales model. GM guys like their trucks and will continue to buy them... but I wonder how many people are like me and aren't brand loyal and don't want to be forced to buy options I don't want in order to get the one option (engine) that I do want.
