2016 Colorado Diesel...Finally a price!!!!

Yesterday the local Chevy dealer here in Iowa where I am working called me. He had finally been able to get an actual price on a diesel equipped Colorado. He priced out exactly what I wanted on the truck...Crew Cab SB 4x4 with only the diesel package and heated seats. It is interesting though that the block heater is optional...so I added that $70.00 option as well...

Sticker price was $39,070.00. They will sell it for $37,500.00 plus tax.GM is dropping the ball on the way they force you to order a truck with packages that drive the cost up with options you would not order but must purchase if you want the diesel. These are packages above and beyond what is included in the diesel option.

I did not order the truck. When Deb was out here two weeks ago, we talked about her transportation needs. Her truck is no longer reliable enough for me to feel comfortable with her at home and me working 750 miles away. We decided to look at used SUV's. They are high enough to give her the visibility she wants and she really never uses her pickup as a pickup anymore...so...

We bought a low mileage 2010 Subaru Outback Limited...for less than 30% of the cost of the Colorado. I will drive it between the two jobs I am building (75 miles apart) until mid October. She will fly out here one way and drive it home...

I have been driving the Subaru Outback for the last ten days or so and I am very impressed with the SUV.Excellent fuel mileage and very comfortable...and my DuraMax is not being driven 150 to 200 miles a day as a basic transporter.

If I could convince my wife to sell her 2014 CTS AWD, I was going to order her a Colorado Crew Cab Long Box with the diesel.

Somehow after 8 months of driving the car that she did not want, and does not like cars, she seems to be rethinking the change. I guess she now understands what is so nice in the Cadillac.

whoa...$38k for a small truck? wow

I would've guessed maybe $25k for a $29k(max) sticker. I am out of touch.

Not a whole lot of small in these small trucks. 1500 lbs of payload, 7,000 lb tow rating, 305 hp gas... I can buy a loaded Colorado for the price of a stripped full size truck.

Recently priced an upper end LT Colorado, leather, navi, etc... and it was about 34k ish..

Thanks!

Jeremiah

Well mine is pretty simple, no leather but added on Megallen and it was ~$28 plus tax. It's no Cummins on the hills but a outstanding 27.5 MPG so far at 1800 miles. Great toad vehicle and can still pull the boat nicely. That's about all we needed in a truck nowdays. I hate the mirrors though :M Entire PS mirror is a spot mirror.

Well...it made it into four pages before the attack begins...You are relatively new here so I will just say this...I hope you never receive the treatment from any manufacturer that nears the disgraceful treatment my wife and I received from the Blue Oval...

When you spend the kind of money we are for these vehicles it's hard to "let it go". Ric was the number one Blue Oval fan boy and the way he was treated is not something someone just lets go.

I hope your subbie proves more reliable than my sisters' 09 legacy outback has been. She's struggled with inadequate A/C cooling, overheating, intermittent radio failure, engine stumble/running issues, clogged moonroof drains so the water leaks inside, and it's only 6 years old with about 60K miles.

She loves it though, and really enjoys the 6 speed manual. She hopes the reliability improves because she really doesn't want to replace it.

With the $10,000+ rebates GM and Ford are putting on their 1500/150 trucks they must not be selling very well. Seen an add last night that showing $10,050 dollars on older stock trucks only. Then the local Ford dealers ran an ad offering $12,500 and zero percent for 72 months on select F-150 trucks.

I agree that the huge rebates and discounts seem strange, especially considering Ford's recent "frame shortage" issues, but regardless, they are selling very well.

I'm thinking if this takes off it GM will offer it in the lower trim levels mid year. With the $10,000+ rebates GM and Ford are putting on their 1500/150 trucks they must not be selling very well. Never would think someone would cross shop a new mid size truck vs a used Subaru wagon. But I am glad you are happy with the purchase.

Tons of Subies in Colorado. Usually driving in the left lane 5 mph under the speed limit with left leaning bumper stickers on the windows.

I really did not cross shop the two vehicles. In an earlier post I mentioned my stepson who works at GM and is very familiar with the diesel Colorado has seen some minor but aggravating issues with the new diesel. His recommendation was to wait to buy until next year. I needed a vehicle for driving 150 plus miles a day between two job sites and Deb needs a newer daily driver this winter. She was out with me when we started looking and really liked the Outback...so I bought it...the new Colorado can wait a year or so...

I enjoyed your left leaning Colorado Subie owner comment. I have a very good friend that lives in Denver and my oldest daughter who owns two Subies lives in Boulder. She leans a bit left at times but as an attorney, she is coming around nicely...figured out finally who pays for all that leftist stuff...My buddy in Denver is further right than me...and he has given me quite a bit of grief over my left side sagging liberal new purchase...thanks for the laugh...

Have a Great day

Subies are huge all over the northwest. For good reason I might add. They're reliable, well built and handle all seasons and gravel roads very well.

As far as pricing sanity goes, I still think $37k for a diesel Colorado is insane. I don't care how many options it includes.
