I have an 8a24m Bass-Pro labelled Deka that is 5+ yrs old and going strong. We are dry camping in Quartzsite now. Deka is a good brand.

It depends on where your Sams Club is located. Eastern states get the Deka and all others get Johnson Controls.

Both are priced at $180 for grp 31. Depending on where I am at the time my current AGMs fail, I WILL get whichever one they have.

I personally will not run AGMs, I put 3 in my bass boat and 2 months later they were all dead, lucky for me BPS took them back under warranty. 31 is better than a 27 due to a larger reserve capacity so if you can fit them that's the size to use. make sure your invertor and or external charger are designed to charge AGM batteries or at least that selection. I personally wont change from a maintenance free marine battery.

Based on this link, http://www.dekabatteries.com/assets/base/0194.pdf the group 31 AGM would have more amp hours than the group 27. Looks like a good move to me.

I see several on the website. Try to get the amp/hr specs.
At least make sure it is deep cycle rated as some are starting batteries.

If you buy AGM's, you can lay them on their side also. In my Maverick when I removed the battery box I had enough room for 2 group 27's or 2 31's by laying the first one on its side then the 2nd one on top of it. they need to be secured well and I also placed a spacer between them and covered the battery posts. Good luck

I run a pair of golf cart GC2's, I think it works much better than the two group 27's I had in my last camper.

Double check the measurements. I was short a bit to upsize even though it looked bigger. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Our Lance 881 doesn't have space for another battery . So our solution was to go from a 27 to a 31 . SAMs club has a 31 which has an AGM code on it an the price $179.95

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.
