So I have decided to switch out my manual tongue jack for an electric one and wondering if 3000 pound is enough or if I need the 3500 pound jack? I have a 24' gulfstream TT that is about 4100 pounds GVW. I have not weighed the tongue on a scale but assuming 10-15% tongue weight should be about 410-615 pounds. Would I be OK going with the cheaper and smaller model or do I need the 3500 pound capacity?

Check the size of the hole that your current tongue jack goes through. The "popular" Barker jacks are different between 3000 and 3500. Don't forget to add a good quality fuse in line with the power feed to the jack.

I have a 2 1/4 and the one I'm looking at (ultra fab), both the 3000 and 3500 fit my frame. Just wondering if it's worth the extra $$ for the larger jack.

I am very happy with the Ultrafab 3502 refurbish for under $100 shipped. Either will do fine for your TT and TV. Remember, you are sometimes raising the rear the the TV along with the TT tongue, thus the 3000+ pounds instead of just 600.

Is there a difference in the length of travel between the two? I would go for the heaviest and longest travel I could afford. The lippert components (LCI) jacks are short travel and they move really slow.

Last year, I got the Barker 3000. I miss read the diameter of the opening. As it turned out, I could have used the 3500.

If I had it to do over, I'd get the 3500. My 3000 works, but I'd feel better if I had a 3500.

If the funds aren't too tight, I'd recommend the 3500 jack.

I would opt for a 3500 lb jack and if you want one that will last you more than three years I would take a serious look at either an Atwood or Barker jack. I managed to kill an ultra-fab jack in around three years ... I replaced with a 3500 lb Atwood that gave me zero grief/issues, even after extensive use.
