5 inch thick mattress for older Lance

I have a Lance 880 with a 5 inch thick mattress in the loft area. It is the original mattress and is past its useful life. I have looked for a decent replacement on line, but can't find a good 5 inch thick option. I can't go much thicker or my cabinet doors won't open. Has anyone found a decent mattress for this application?

Try www.foambymail.com - you can get a sheet of foam in about any thickness and a variety of densities - just cut it to the size you need using an electric knife. It was substantially cheaper for me to buy a full-size sheet vs having them trim it. Free shipping. ST

The memory foam we ordered took a couple of day to air out, but the odor wasn't that bad to begin with. We just laid it on the bed at home then moved it to the 5th wheel.

I was referring to ..... i would be hesitant to order one on-line because of the odor they sometimes have and it would a pain to remove it , pack it and possibly a shipping expense to return it .

I had to change the mattress in my previous tc and it was a narrow opening to the cabover. It was a job that i was thankful to do only once. I felt the mattress was winning.

Heh, I'd rather be breathing in fire-retardant chemicals than fire...

I guess the Lance 880 uses a short queen and thats why you cant find one ?
If you have a full queen 80" i would think the Sacramento area would have a few places to find a mattress that you can actually try out rather than order on-line.
I often wonder with all the chemicals they use as fire retardants in foam mattresses, are those chemicals causing us any harm ? After all, we are breathing them in for 8 hrs.a day at close range.
I wouldn't be surprised if we find out someday that those chemicals are more deleterious than we are being told.
People return foam mattresses because of the chemical odors that just wouldn't air out over time. I would be hesitant ordering anything like that on-line.
Try to make it easy on yourself if you do have to return it.
Its going to be bad enough just getting the old one out and the new one in .

We found a 4" memory foam mattress online that was an exact replacement size. As i recall it was an odd size queen. Works great. We probably have the same one Steve and Linda have.
To try to extend the old mattress' life, we bought a topper, which made the total thickness impressive, but you kept rolling in and out of the trenches during the night. So, we ditched the old mattress and the topper in favor of the above. It gives us a little more headroom in sleeping cabover.

I have a guy over here in Whittier who makes custom mattresses fairly reasonable ... I guess back in the day they used to make allot of rv mattress for trailers and toy haulers... If you want the info send me a pm.... I just referred a couple of friends over for regular home mattresses last year and he made me one special for home... I'm a big guy... Love it love it love it .... lots less than going to any mattress store....
