5 inches of foam board in bed?

The bed rails in my new truck are 4 1/2" taller. Would 5" of foam board be ok or should I build a platform out of 2 x 6's? Is there anyone out there using 4 or 5 inches of foam board in their bed? My camper weighs 1300lbs. Thanks, Vic

We have an old Palomino Mini L on a F-150. We use (from bottom to top) a rubber horse stall mat, 2 layers of 2 inch foam board, then 3/4 inch weather treated plywood.

Works great for us, very minimal shifting even on crazy steep winding roads, easy to take out when offloading the camper.

I don't like the sound of 5" of foam board. Go with a wood frame and a foam board topper.

Your correct Skip, mini truck camper in a mid sized truck. I don't want my wings resting on my bed rails.

Yep, that's the problem. Check out his profile & pic.

Personally, I would build the platform with 2" x 6" lumber.

You are saying your truck's bed rails are 4.5" taller than your camper?? What truck and what camper would that be?

Sounds like a camper for a mini truck camper in a full size truck bed maybe?
