6.4 Hemi first oil change

Yes it can. If you manually shift to 6th gear instead of drive, it will shift normally but not use mds.

Thanks ib516 and others for the info and video links. The videos were really helpful. I wasn't aware of the new oil requirement until I read this thread. Seems that the hemi mph is similar to the ford and chevy on trailering but better empty than the chevy and similar to the ford.
Now one more question. Can the switching to the 4 cylinder be locked out?--Thanks--

Mine burned about a third of a quart during the first 4000 miles. None since.

I'm dropping off at the dealer today and just pulled a coupon off their website for $80. I agree it's reasonable. With dino oil the change intervals were 3-4K and $40 was a reasonable price. So, 2X as far for 2X the price is okay by me.

Something I've noticed after a year with this truck is that it doesn't burn a drop of oil. After 8K miles I just looked at the dipstick and it's right at full. All my other trucks have burned at least something noticeable between changes. I'm not sure if the lack of losing oil has something to do with the full synthetic, the 0W or just luck. Any other 6.4 Hemi owners have any reports?

I havent towed anything heavy but my mpg mimcs ib516's.

I have posted videos of my mpg on YouTube.

I get about 17 - 18 mpg hwy empty at 65-70 mph, 8 mpg pulling the RV (12,000# 5er) and 13-14 mpg mixed driving. When 4 cylinder mode kicks in on the hwy (flats with no headwind) it will jump into the low 20 mpg range for brief periods. I came from a 5.9L Cummins and I've been very pleased with the 6.4L.

You know, if you would have never posted your derogatory statement in response to my initial post that was not bashing you or anyone else here then I would have never responded back to you. Am I not allowed to be surprised of how much the the oil change is on a 6.4L and how it is more expensive than mine(which I wouldn't have guessed it would be more expensive) and make a post about it when the cost of a 6.4L oil change is the topic? Am I not allowed to respond to those who quote what I post while saying derogatory statements towards me? Trust me I am new and not anyone else you might be mistaking me for, and if I am not allowed to do these things then please let me know.

Lastly, I do believe in having the balley walleys at least name the person you are talking about instead of beating around the bush like some have done on this forum. If you got something to say then say it. Trust me, you ain't gonna hurt my feelings.

No Silverwood this year. Banff and Waterton and a few local trips. Heading out to hike the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island too, no RV though, flying there and back.
