It's 30amp and gives me 50ft of extension. I know it'll work with the AC and won't ever have to worry unless I upgrade to a 2nd AC unit.

My TT came with a 50amp cable, in case I upgraded to 2 AC units. I currently only have one 15k BTU unit. I typically use a 50a-30a adapter and then plug that into the 30a-15a adapter like you showed above and then plug straight into the outlet. My goal as I mentioned earlier is to be able to park anywhere and as long as I found an outlet for the 30a-15a adapter, I'd be able to run my AC without an issue.

Does your 10 gauge extension cord handle that well? Does it get hot? The 50a 30' extension cord on Amazon is about $100. If I went with your suggestion, I'm thinking I could get a different cable that can handle the load while spending less and having more length in the extension cord. I found this one: http://www.lowes.com/pd_67439-16503-UTP511830_0__?productId=3203689 which gives me 20 extra feet and a $40 savings or this one: http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=242168-66906-UT700835&langId=-1&storeId=10151&productId=3190843&catalogId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1 that gives me 70 extra feet and a $10 savings.

In the end, it's not so much about the money as it is about the AC working without overheating anything. Granted I love the idea of not getting a 50amp extension cable because of the weight of the cable and the lack of length over the other options.

DO NOT use any of those ROUND BLACK RV 30A-15A Adapters... They will burn up your 30A Shore Power PLug...


I also have one of those RV120VAC PLUG IN VOLTMETERS inside the trailer where I can get a glance at it before turning the Air Conditioner. It has the SAFE ZONE printed in GREEN on the front scale.

I will not turn it ON if it is not within the green SAFE ZONE on the AC VOLTMNETER..


Hope your air conditioner is OK - They sure don't like to try to startup when undervoltage.

I wish that worked. I'm about to spend some money on a 30' 50amp extension cable for my trip to MD as we'll be parking outside some friends houses and will need the cables to reach an outlet, so I Can run the AC while the dogs are inside.

Ok, thanks. I will look at getting a better ext cord. The one I'm on now is just a typical Orange 30ft cord. Thanks!!

Yes.

You really need a 30a extension cord, assuming you're using a 'household' 15-20a cord. You're getting too much voltage drop to start the air.
