Aug 25, 2014If you smell it again then it may be bacteria on the coils. After the AC stops running, there's little bits of water that's left behind on the coil and near the coil. Bacteria can grow in this moisture especially if air continues to move past the coils after the refrigeration portion has turned off. You end up with a smell similar to an old wet towel or socks you've exercise in (Phew!). If that's the case then you just need to clean the evaporator coils and the drain.
