AC running when on furnace

We have a 2013 Z-1 with a 13.5 AC. It has a Dometic digital thermostat. When I flip it to furnace and set the temp say on 68. The AC will run and blow cold air. Now the furnace will kick on and blow warm air as well.

I am new to the travel trailer space -- we had a popup previously -- so I am unsure as to if this is normal behavior. With the popup obviously they were two separate systems so I don't know if I have a problem or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

set the fan speed to auto

    Thanks Katysdad,

Amazing how things work as designed. :)

I guess I must have put it to HIGH. Switch to AUTO and it shuts of.

Fan control on t-stat is ONLY for A/C Unit Fan
  • Wow....same thing happened to me just yesterday! We had the camper at the house getting it ready for our trip, and I turned on the furnace and the AC kept blowing. I forgot about the fan setting, so I ended up just flipping the AC circuit breaker. Thanks for the tip....sometimes I miss the older thermostat I had in the 2002 Sunline!!

Not only that, but I had all the ceiling vents closed, and when the AC fan ran, it made a loud high pitched noise which made me really think "oh crap, what's going on with the motor??". Turns out, it was just the air being forced through the vents....that was a relief!!
